Vargas Appointed Chair Virginia Advisory Committee to Civil Rights Commission
Herndon, VA – VARCom Solutions’ President/Founder, Danny Vargas, was appointed Chair of the Virginia State Advisory Committee to the U. S. Commission on Civil Rights. The appointment was made by unanimous vote of the Commission at its February 18th business meeting.
The Commission maintains 56 State and U.S. Territory Advisory Committees (STACs), one in each state, the District of Columbia, and the five U.S. Territories. Each is composed of citizen volunteers familiar with local and state civil rights issues. The members assist the Commission with its fact-finding, investigative, and information dissemination functions. The advisory committee conducts reviews and produces reports and recommendations concerning state and local civil rights issues, including justice, voting, discrimination, housing, education, and more.
“It is very humbling to have been tapped to serve the Committee as its Chair and by extension, the people of the great Commonwealth of Virginia,” said Vargas. He added, “All the volunteer members of the Committee care deeply about civil rights, human rights, justice, and fairness, and we are committed to ensuring an environment of equal opportunity and treatment so that everyone can thrive.”
Mr. Vargas is active in numerous community service efforts. He is the Chairman Emeritus of the Friends of the National Museum of the American Latino, Chairman of Leadership Fairfax, Founder/Chairman of the American Latino Veterans Association, former Chairman of the Virginia Board of Workforce Development, former Chairman of the Dulles Regional Chamber of Commerce, and a former candidate to the Virginia House of Delegates. He also serves on various boards and commissions, including, Virginia FREE, GO Virginia’s Northern Virginia Regional Council, and more.
